Movie Thoughts ~Avengers: Endgame~

A year has passed since the devastating ending of Avengers: Infinity War, and that means it’s finally time to watch and process the next installment Avengers: Endgame. Because of the time that this is being posted I don’t want to give away spoilers for the movie, so this will be just mainly my main impressions and thoughts and nothing with great detail! I know this post is going to be pretty vague, I just REALLY don’t want to give anything away that might ruin the fun for others. With that being said, let’s get started!

Title: Avengers: Endgame
Rated: PG-13
Time: 3h 2min
Release: April, 2019
Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-fi
My Rating: 9 /10

To get ready for this epic finale of sorts, my husband and I enjoyed watching several past Marvel movies to keep the ongoing storylines fresh in our brains. Starting from the original Iron Man movie and ending with Infinity War, seeing everything from the start was a nice way to go into Endgame. There are subtle call out to some of the past movies and these can be easily missed if the movies are not refreshed in your memory.

Considering the events of Infinity War, it’s safe to say we went in expecting to have our hearts destroyed at least a little by this movie. While I did find myself getting emotional at points, I think the writers did a great job balancing everything out. I love the time spent making sure most of the characters are given time on screen, and that past movies are given a nice tie in with the ending story. Getting to see characters and moments from some of my favorite movies made Endgame feel much more of a movie made for the fans of the Marvel Universe. It’s easy to go into this long running franchise without seeing everything that has been released. I love that dedicated fans, such as my husband and I, that have seen every movie and show that has come to the big, or small, screen have a lot of eggs to look for. It shows just how much the writers care for the fans and that they do listen to things that are said.

Knowing some of where the story was planning on going based on trailers, I worried that  although the movie would be great and fun, it would be a huge mess of a story. There seemed to be so much that needed to be wrapped up or mentioned and it would be extremely hard to make this a smooth story. Surprisingly, I was impressed on how the story was handled. Without spoiling anything, there are a couple of things that may be hazy or not as understandable, but considering the hugeness of the Marvel Universe, I would say the story is decently done. There are a few holes I would like to see addressed in later movies, or at least have an explanation given at some point to understand moments a little better.

Like all Marvel Movies, the acting was great! I enjoyed seeing a few of my favorite characters again in a movie with a large cast. Some movies are great on their own, but I enjoy seeing all the different worlds and personalities work with each other, even if it is not the most friendly of ways. There were nice endings to some story lines that have been set up from the beginning and I can’t wait to see where some of the future movies will go after the events that take place during Endgame. I know it might be a while before we get another major Arc for the movies to work toward, but I think what we have for now is amazing. There is so much that can be done and I look forward to seeing just what the story will be.

Overall, I really enjoyed the movie. It is definitely a great watch, and I really enjoyed a large portion of my viewing. Like with all movies, there are a few points I didn’t care for and things I wish were done differently, but without giving too much away that is all I’m going to say for now. The movie may not be perfect, but it is definitely a movie that should be seen by anyone that has followed the Marvel movies.
