A New Year, A New Adventure!

Hello and welcome to Creatively Bookish!

I’m excited for you to join me on my new blog! This is not my first adventure into the blogging world, but this blog is going to be slightly different than what I did before!

This is meant to be a welcome to my readers! I wanted to let everyone know a little of what to expect on this blog in the future.

Before I can really tell you about the blog, I need to give a little history first. (Feel free to skip this part if you don’t feel like reading)

In the past my blogging has been strictly about books. I did reviews, and weekly posts on what I couldn’t wait to read and what was coming out. Two fellow bloggers welcomed me into the blog Live Love Read, and I will forever be grateful for everything they have done and the friendships that created! Kelly and Melissa are both amazing women and you definitely need to know them! They will forever have a special spot in my heart.

In 2017 my life changed when I got married! My husband is fantastic, and he supports me on everything I do, but between my new married life, school, and some health issues, blogging began to take a back seat in my life. So did reading. I slowly stopped reading as much, and time was extremely limited. I lost that spark that led me to blogging in the first place. Things were both falling apart in my life, and falling into place. I had to make decisions that changed a lot, and I had to learn to adjust to it.

Ever since I was a young girl I have always wanted to be a Nurse. I made sure to pick academic classes and electives in High School and college that would help me pursue this dream. I gave up the classes that I would have liked to take, such as creative writing and art, just to make sure I was on the right track for a medical degree. At the end of 2016 I was told because of some of my health issues, I would really need to consider a different path career wise. I could still be a Nurse, but it would be extremely hard on me, and on my loved ones. So I made a hard choice, and shut the door on that dream. Since I have 3 AAS Degrees in business, I decided I wanted to do one more path in college. This would have nothing to do with business or medical, it was a way to help me heal after my choice. I have always been passionate about photography, but never thought about making that a career. A local business school happened to have a photography program, so I signed up! I didn’t know what to expect out of classes that were all artistic, but I found I really enjoyed it. Photography was allowing me to express myself like I haven’t been used to, or able to in the past. I soaked up all I could in class, and found my new path. After getting my Associates Degree in Photography, I now work in a photography studio!

2018 has been a year of ups and downs. It is also the year I started to really figure things out in my life. I began thinking of a new project I wanted to do, but couldn’t quite think how to manage it. That’s when I came up with the idea for Creatively Bookish. For half the year I have been thinking and planning what I wanted this blog to be!

Now that 2019 is here, I would like to present my new blog, Creatively Bookish, to the world!

What will you find here?

This blog is going to be a space full of bookish love and an outlet for creative inspiration! I plan to post book reviews, and reading discussions, and anything else bookish I can think of!

Photography being my career will definitely find it’s way to this blog. I want a place to express stories through photos. The type of photos I create or not just family portraits and weddings. These photography projects are going to be stories shown in images! Photos will also be bookish related.

Reading and photography are a huge part of my life, but I also enjoy drawing, and I’m going to be posting more art projects and my journey in teaching myself digital art! I already plan to have a monthly art challenge for myself. More info on that will be posted later or if you are interested in joining me on this art challenge, message me!

I am still working a few things out, so designs and layout on the blog may change, but I was just excited to start!

That is pretty much all I can think of saying for now! I hope you enjoy the new blog and I look forward to taking my journey with you! If you have any suggestions or comments about what I should post or what you would like to see, please let me know!

Happy New Year everyone!

~Lauren
